That's why an Over the Moon Themed Baby Shower is a fantastic way to welcome your newest arrival! Today I want to walk you behind the scenes at this gorgeously coordinated, richly colored backyard baby shower so you have more than enough inspiration to plan your next party! I know you'll be "over the moon" after seeing the precious decor, stunning florals and exquisite food!
Over the Moon for This Baby Shower
I have a special place in my heart for a moon themed party because at our house, I always tell our kids I love them more than all the stars, suns and moons in the whole galaxy. And they'll tell me they love me to the moon and back. It's evolved over the years and I love hearing those sweet voices echo it back to me. That's what parenthood is all about… being totally over the moon in love for a new life you created – definitely something to celebrate!
Ashley's elegant and whimsical Over the Moon Baby Shower was a chic summer soiree that wowed guests from the moment they received their invitation! The invitations, designed by LBrown Design & Paperie, conjured up images of the galaxy with shades of vibrant blues and golds coupled with patterns of moons and stars. Event Planner, Designer and Florist Christine Janda Design and Events added pops of deep pinks and purples throughout the party with the florals and tablecloths to create a striking look for the decor. Held in the backyard of the host's home, a gigantic tent was set up to house the event and the centerpiece that hung down from the ceiling was breathtaking! A hoop of silver stars dangled a mobile of large colorful stars, bright florals and a delicate silver moon. It really draws your attention to the feature table with the cakes (more on those later)! I just adore the rich blue and purple linens too… it gives the shower a regal, sophisticated look!
As guests arrived they were greeted with irresistibly refreshing freshly squeezed cocktails upon their arrival. A make-your-own cocktail bar, featuring miniature melon balls, unique juice blends and champagne was a festive way to kick off the event.
After soaking up some moments with the mom to be, guests were treated to an impeccably polished seated brunch. Over the Moon custom menus at each place setting highlighted the delectable array of salads, mac and cheese bites, tea sandwiches, miniature burgers and more catered by Boutique Bites.
After brunch guests were treated to a gorgeous array of desserts! We're talking brownie bites, tarts, pastries, gold dust painted macarons and beautifully sweet moon and star sugar cookies provided by Alliance Bakery!
And of course, no party would be complete without cake! Alliance Bakery dreamed up these three darling blue single layer cakes, topped with macarons, stars and moons. I like the idea of displaying the cake differently… instead of a tiered cake, break down the layers and display them around a table at different heights on different cake stands. The effect here was enchanting!
To help Ashley create memories long after baby is born, a onesie decorating table was set up which allowed guests to create their own special gift for the soon to be mom and dad! Embellishments like buttons, stars, puff balls and markers were spread out on the table so guests could put their own unique touch on a monthly milestone onesie!
